Is there a page showing the details of the upgrade, and instructions on its use?

In particular, I’d like to learn how to associate video mode with my toslink input.

The LED dimming function would also be nice.

I have a Premier DAC, with Digital Director. I have updated the firmware on both without issues. There is not any new information on the support page.

Thanks.

The firmware and download/playback instructions can be found here on The Premier DAC/Director support page. It is provided in both video format as well as written instructions.

As for the instructions on how to use the new features, the video at the top of this topic, shows the basic usage of each of these features. The video demonstrates the features on the Cascade DAC, but it is very similar across all of our DACs with just minor variances in things like displayed characters and where it appears in the menu system.

If you need any additional support on this or experience any technical difficulty, feel free to respond here or message @Jonathan_Gullman for help with your update.

I was happy to engage the auto dim function. I set my to dim fully.

One question. I set my TOSLink input to “video” mode, and the RCA seems to be slaved to the TOSLink, and I could not get the RCA to be non-video. I use the RCA SPDIF for input from a Sonos Port, and would rather it be non video. I do require video mode on the TOSLink for lip-sync with video.

Are the 2 stuck together since they are in the same module? Or am I doing something wrong.

Thanks.

I am unsure if this is singular input based or if it is per module based. From what I understood when I was filming the video is that they are supposed to be separate, maybe @Jonathan_Gullman can clarify this.

Certainly not a deal breaker kind of thing. The Sonos appliance (on RCA SPDIF) is definitely not for any kind of critical listening, more to be able to merge my system with house wide music playing when entertaining. And, therefore, not used that often.

Mainly wondering if it were user error trying to set things up. The video mode saved to the TOSLink input alone is wonderful. It will be easy to push the video button on the remote to undo video on the RCA when I do use it.

Hello @Bones13
The video mode should be one input at a time. It should be different for the Toslink and the RCA. If this is not the case, can you please email me a video of the behavior?

Yes, tomorrow, thanks.

I noticed something else this morning. The TOSLink based sound was not in sync with video. Despite the input being marked as “video” on the DAC. I pressed the video button on the remote, and it started syncing.

More tomorrow when i can test, and video.

Michael

Yes, so terribly user error.

I was understanding that you set video mode on each input in the menu.

Please confirm that the video mode save setting makes the video mode “sticky” when used. So that when you are on the TOSLink input, and press video mode, it sticks to that input till removed (another video button again)

Not completely sure how I was mucking up in the menu structure when I first started setting after the firmware update..
