Firmware Version

Not to sound lost (which I am) but my Cascade reports SW 1.2.1.0 and HW 0.0.0.1 does that mean it’s BDT enabled or ???

@Peter.Bomberg , not to worry! It is simply a reporting error. If the Digital Director starts before the Analog Converter, it looks for the hardware and doesn’t see it. If you reset the Digital Director, that should update correctly to show the new hardware.

We are aware of this bug, and the good news, its fixed! We have new firmware available today that will solve this issue along with adding some other features. You can find the firmware files here:

@Daniel_Francis thank you for an amazing product and a fantastic team, the firmware fixed the reporting issue and as I mentioned in my other post you also fixed the IR issue, now all I need is a Spotify enabled renderer

I just updated the software successfully and my readout says Rev: 1.7.1.0 not Version 1.7.1.1 as listed in the download section ?
Am I missing something?

That would be a typo. I’ll go correct that on the site. Thanks!

There is also a freshly uploaded how to video if anyone needs help with the update.

@Kevin_Turnquist the update worked (and yes there is a typo) but it made me realize I had made an incorrect assumption, which might be something you want to clarify.

The renderer states it will auto-update if it has an internet connection, so I wrongfully assumed it would include all DAC related aspects, but looking more carefully it’s limited to the renderer, this might be something you want to make explicit in a future version of the manual.

The manual states

@Peter.Bomberg I originally made that assumption when I was told about the “Automatic Firmware Updates” as well , I will make a note of this on each of the firmware support pages as well as add it to my list of things to add in the next round of manual updates. I believe the only place this is clearly stated is here on the Network Setup guide for the renderer. Something tells me most people don’t read this page since in most use cases you just plug in a cat6 cable and you are ready to go. I will be sure to have it stated in some more obvious locations

And @Kevin_Turnquist since I am creating a wish list, maybe a firmware section on the forum so people can see there is a new version as it’s sort of buried several pages deep at the moment, ohh and a short history page maybe

@Peter.Bomberg We will be releasing an announcement about the firmware update (hopefully today) to drive attention and I will make a forum topic with the video as well as links to the support pages for each product. Most likely followed by a newsletter release.

As for the firmware history table, I will see if I can implement this moving forward. It is definitely something we are interested in doing especially to track the compatibility of units to the Universal I2S input in association to which firmware they were added in.
