Hi MSB Support,
I experienced a very concerning issue with my system and wanted to ask for your advice.
System:
- Premier DAC
- Premier Power Base
- Digital Director
- Renderer V2
- Connected directly to an MSB S500 power amplifier (no preamplifier)
I was listening via Qobuz Connect using the Renderer V2.
Before the incident, I noticed that the Premier remote control had an unusual lag. When I pressed the volume dial or menu button there was a noticeable delay before the DAC responded. This was not normal behavior.
While music was playing, I also adjusted the volume using the Qobuz app on mu phone(volume slide)
Shortly afterward, the system suddenly produced extremely loud digital/DC-like bursts or explosive pops through both speaker. This did not sound like a normal volume increase—it sounded like a serious digital fault or corruption. I quickly go to dac and tired to decrease volume but did not help
Because I was using ceramic drivers, I immediately switched off the S500 to protect the speakers.
I do not remember whether the music continued underneath the bursts because the event was quite shocking, and my priority was shutting the amplifier down immediately.
Afterwards, I read that some users have mentioned possible issues related to the optical control (TOSLINK) cables between MSB components. Since I had already noticed the remote control lag before the incident, I wondered whether this could indicate a communication or synchronization problem between the MSB modules.
Maybe qobuz volume slider was a to much data to process.
Could you please advise:
- Have you seen similar behavior before?
- Could this be related to the optical control cable or module communication?
- Are there any firmware updates or diagnostics you recommend?
- Is there anything I should check before using the system again?
I would appreciate your guidance, as I do not want to risk damaging my loudspeakers.
Thank you very much.
Best regards,
Ahmed Gencal
