Where Can I buy RS-232 interface for Analog DAC

Hello,

Can I order it direct from MSB and how much does it cost?

I would like to change my DAC output to Fixed. This is the only way to use RS-232 to change that setting?

Cheers,

Kenny

I am also an owner of the analog DAC. The output is fixed unless you have the preamp module installed (so do I). If I needed to fix = I would put level on max. But you probably have to repeat it anytime you turn it on.

The confusing part is you asking for a RS-232 interface because that was invented back in the 1960s so it’s highly improbable that any modern gear would still support it and if still yes, transfer speed of ca. 20 kbit/s is so slow…

Hello Goodsound

I just acquired the Burmester 808 MK5 preamp and would like to set a fixed volume for my DAC.

According to the user guide, the only way to set up a fixed output is by using the terminal via an RS-232 connection. However, for an analog DAC, the RS-232 interface is an optional component and not much information about this parts.

@Kenny Can you send me a private message with your address and I’ll see if I can get you one after the holidays. The office is closed for Christmas.

@Goodsound RS-232 is still the most common way for home automation systems. If it has a computer in the product, they will do IP connectors, but otherwise lots of gear still has RS-232 control as standard. It’s old, but it works very well.

You never want to set the volume to max as this can cause clipping. For the Analog DAC it should be set to 100. If you have old code in your Analog DAC it should be set to 0. Do not set it to 106 or +6dB to bypass the volume stage.

Thanks for clarification and sorry I wasn’t helpful.
