I am trying to get an external IR transmitter (Sewell BlastIR Wireless Pro IR Repeater — Sewell Direct) to extend the coverage when we lack clear line of sight to work with the Cascade but so far no luck, does anyone know the chanel
Good question for @Jonathan_Gullman
@Jonathan_Gullman channel 0 seems to work but if there is a better choice I am all ears.
And with 2 MSB remotes and 2 repeaters and 1 transmitter I think we have the solution to the input volume mismatch.
@Jonathan_Gullman ok, so a bit of troubleshooting and some real head scratching here!
It turns out the Sewell was working fine, the issue actually seems to lie with the remote. We can skip tracks (forward or backward), we can raise and lower the volume (I have not tried mute, or any other function as we dont really use them) but there is one thing we simply can’t do using this setup, we can’t start/stop!
The remote works fantastic when we point directly at the Cascade but for some reason we don’t understand nothing happens when we try via the Sewell, but all other functions we try work great, we tried both remotes to see if there was something with the remote but they both behave the same!
Any clues or thoughts, or tests you want me to do?
Hello Peter,
Our remotes send a modified code version for the volume. It was done to send faster commands as a knob allows much faster user entry than a button.
If the repeater is just a repeater it should work. If it’s trying to “learn” and copy the commands I could see it having an issue. Seeing as it can send the data wireless my guess is this is what it’s trying to do. I don’t know if the Sewell system can be made to work.
Are you trying to send commands from one room to another or from inside to outside of a cabinet?
So the irony is volume worked great, pause/start was the issue. The reason I say past tense is I returned the unit as the remote transmitter was broken, I will retest when the replacement shows up.
Replacement unit works the same sadly.
Volume and forward/reverse but no pause/resume
Help please…
