Slight popping when switching sample rates with digital director

New digital director owner. I notice a slight pop when switching songs with different bit rates. Is this normal behavior and is there a way to lessen it with roon. Do not want to risk damage to the tweeters on my speakers.

I have not noticed that with my system (Premier DAC+ Digital Director) with the Renderer V2, and Roon. I have set my Roon up with a NUC ROCK server with no digital alterations in Roon, just bit-perfect out, in whatever format the file is. I have everything from MP3s to DSD 256 on my server.

Please look at the latest firmware for your DAC and the director on the product support page. Be sure to download the firmware for both the DAC and the Director when the Director mode in the menu is in “pass” mode and NOT “filter” mode. Let us know your results please.

If you email @Jonathan_Gullman he can follow up with you on this :+1:

Hey there, Slightly off topic, but I was wondering if you can share the improvments you expereinced when adding the DD to your Premier DAC? I’m thinking about the same upgrade.

Thanks!

Mike

Vince everything is up to date. I am going to try to add some pre roll in roon to see if that takes care of the issue. It happens when the tidal file is MQA.

Thank you Daniel I reached out via message on the forums. I know that you guys are busy getting ready for Munich. Hope to hear back soon.

I had a permanent “electronic pop when switching songs with different bit rates” issue with my previous Reference DAC (without the Digital Director), and now also with my Cascade DAC which was recently upgraded to BDT. Honestly, I have just gotten used to this problem and have learnt to live with it. I do share the concern, however, regarding hurting my speakers when the pop occurs. I try my best to be diligent and careful to first STOP a file/album playback before switching to a different file/album. That seems to mitigate the problem most of the times but not always. I also try to remember lowering the volume before switching files/albums.

@Klewja , thanks for your patience. @Jonathan_Gullman and I are at the Munich show now and having been working on this back at the office. We will need a bit more time to troubleshoot potential fixes. It is on our radar and we would love to resolve it.
