Premier + Digital Director arrives!

After an agonizing day of watching the UPS truck keep pushing back my delivery window, it finally arrived and I was able to get my new Premier + Digital Director installed. It sounds great out of the box but I will let it continuously play for a few days. I have read they can take 100 hours. Color me happy. (Yes, I have turned Volume Control off).

Hi crwilly,

Congratulations with the new system, i hope by now the burn in periad has changed into musical bliss.

You wrote you have turned off the volume control…but the display shows 100? Not sure if you took that picture before or after.

In the menu you can switch off the volume and then the 100 dissapears.

What speakers are you using?

Frank

Hi Frank, Ha, Yes, I took this picture before I remembered to set the volume to Off.

My speakers are Kharma DB11-S.

Congrats Craig! And thanks again for your patience while we locked in your order. I hope it was worth the wait

Looking good!

Thanks Daniel! I am pleased already. After opening and while connecting everything via reading the manual, I was a bit confused but eventually figured out you had everything set and ready to go.

I understand you have to prepare the manuals for many situations around the world but knowing things were ready to go would have saved me some time and stress. Of course, none of my firmware uploads would work because I hadn’t turned the Digital Director on! D’oH! Ha!

Turned it on and things just worked!
After warming to room temperature and playing for 8 hours overnight, it sounding great this AM.

Mike Bovaird of Suncoast Audio will visit tomorrow to check my progress.

If you’d like to share your thoughts on the manual more in depth, we are always working to improve these things.

I had similar questions when I installed the Digital in my Premier stack.

There is no 12v trigger control on the Digital Director. (No electrical connection back to the DAC, or PSU) I believe it’s designed to be turned on, and left on, for the most part. I will turn mine off for inclement weather, or long absences.

On the positive side (I think) also, is that the Renderer is left powered on, and will automatically get updated.
