Introducing The Sentinel DAC

You bet! We are doing photos shortly and will create a full professional gallery. Maybe 2 weeks out.

First orders are shipping next week. More than 20 units have been sold, so it will take a while to make it through the production. Lot’s of details to finalize and ensure the product is 100% before going out the door. No room for any bugs

Nicely done!

What function do the pucks serve under the feet? The feet don’t appear to be sharp.

The pucks are there to mostly protect the rack finish. With so much weight on the rubber tips, it could eventually leave a mark on very porous surfaces or unfinished wood.

That makes sense, using the pucks helps protect the rack and prevents marks on delicate or unfinished surfaces.

I was just rumaging around through some old media drives and found this snapshot of my original Sentinel DAC concept. The clock would have been isolated and floating in the central channel. The time stamp was from 2013… well over a decade in the making! Certainly come a long way since then. What a journey!

A new review of the Sentinel that is a good read.

English translation by Google.

Love this quote:

"
MSB The Sentinel – A new world

The expectations of everyone present that The Sentinel could surpass what had already been presented were extremely low, given the Cascade’s performance. The surprise was all the greater when the new super-DAC played its first notes and immediately sent shivers down the spines of its audience. If you were to compare the sound of the Cascade to a color scale with blue, yellow, red, green, orange, and violet, you would think that this would be enough to represent everything you could possibly want. The Sentinel’s sound, by this comparison, would be a rich color palette, capable of distinguishing between burgundy, fuchsia, magenta, rosé, and more, even within the red range. The Sentinel renders transitions between notes with even greater nuance, transitions that you weren’t even aware were there before. Like the first free breath after clearing a stuffy nose, everything here gains even more air."

It reminds me of Dvořák’s From The New World.

Typo alert:

“Instead of the 16 ladder DAC modules found in the Cascade, the Sentinel utilizes a whopping 32 of the expensive Hybrid DAC MK II components.“

Should read, “Instead of the 8 ladder DAC modules found in the Cascade, the Sentinel utilizes a whopping 32 of the expensive Hybrid DAC MK II components.”

correct.

also at the end, the Sentinel has 4 XLR outputs.
