Ok I will admit that I’m spoiled
But you can instantly tell the difference between a hiresolution track and one that CD quality so does anyone know how to get roon or tidal not to show or play anything not high resolution

@Peter.Bomberg , how do we know that the HiRes files from Tidal or Quboz (192kHz, 24bit or 96kHz, 24bit) are indeed the original master digital recordings and not just upscaled from a digital CD copy? Maybe an old analog master recording can be digitally remastered to a digital file of 192 kHz 24bit, and also a 44.1kHz 16 bit? Which file would sound better?
Newer recordings may be originally recorded in 192kHz 24bit or higher resolution, then if these HiRes files are put on Tidal or Qobuz, they would be excellent.
Just my thoughts.
@Easyglider we simply dont’ I had a very similar conversation once with a recording engineer for a large label, who pointed out that a fairly large amount of material that people called analog had been digitally processed along the way.
I guess what I am saying is that in general I have found that when I listen to a 24bit track it has a wider, more precise and nuanced soundstage, which results in a more enjoyable listening experience.
@Peter.Bomberg, if you are using Roon apps, Roon will always first feature (or play) the highest quality content from your library. But Roon will also play the CD quality files if there are no higher resolution files available. I guess you can not prevent the CD quality files from being played if you are under Roon radio mode.
