Hello MSB people!
I’m sure this has been cover, but I cannot seem to find a thread to read.
I am currently using the HiFi Rose RS130 transport with my Premier DAC. This transport allows you to serve the files in native format or upsample them to 24/96.
I wonder what others are doing in similar setups? I tried both ways, and it does seem to be a bit more coherent running 24/96 to the DAC.
Are there downsides to doing this? Have others found upsampling to be fatiguing after longer listening sessions? I would very much value your insights here.
Thank you!

It’s always worth experimenting with. I used to convert all files to DSD, in Roon, as my Bricasti DAC sounded much better using the DSD decoding board.
That being said, I prefer to send unaltered files to my Premier DAC, with Digital director. I have not heard anyone say they absolutely preferred resampled files. I could be wrong.
It’s an easy experiment though. It only matters what you hear.

I’ll put a second vote in here for unaltered files, but there are so many ways to do it. Report back your findings though!

Hello Hubman,
MSB Digital filters for PCM and DSD are written in house to large memory chips. Ladder DACs give our engineers the freedom to write these superior filters that have been evolved over many years. Upsampling or cross formatting may improve “lesser” DACs. Because of our sophisticated digital filters, we prefer the native file as it came from the studio. But as others have suggested, use your ears to decide. Differences may be more apparent with complex music like full orchestra or big band jazz. Hope this helps!
