Has anyone done a Magico vs Estelon comparison?

Yes the Magico’s deliver a fantastic base it’s rock solid, fast, musical and effortless. The Estelons in my opinion on their own (other than the Extreme) can’t compete with the solid foundation the Magico’s (and the Rockport Lyra, Tidal Akira but that is another topic) however on the soundstage and accuracy the Esteon’s are in a class of their own (none of the others came close in my mind) .

So first thing I would do is pair the amazing soundstage of the Forza with a pair or a stack of REL No. 31’s the larger driver in the 32 might be too slow. I run a pair of No 31’s with my X Diamonds and the result is a major improvement, I have the rock solid foundation and the amazing soundstage.

I could easily stop there BUT the Forza’s are simply better and the Extreme’s are MUCH better, they start challenging the Magicos low end but without giving up anything on the mid’s to highs, however I can’t make them work in my space, or rather I would have to be extremely careful everytime I carried anything up or down my stairs and in the long run I would be more than annoyed. So the Forza is a prefect solution (they are less sensitive to placement and smaller)

Now the twist to all of the above, my wife vetoed several really excellent options as she didn’t like the esthetics including the Magico’s as she has said on several occasions there shall not be any big black blobs, and thanks to Jamie at The Audio Experience I have a system that not only sounds amazing but looks fantastic, the custom painted RELs are perfect.

Agreed. Our office is split right down the middle on this topic. That is why we have both on hand at all times :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I suppose that isn’t viable for most home systems though.

and most home budgets, hmmm one set of extremes and one set of M7’s would not only take up some serious space but also be a serious investments

Thank you, we got it in Bali and a large number of people that think it’s real. It is made by a local artist who specializes in lifelike turtles

At this level of equipment I don’t think “best” is possible. We all hear differently, we all have a sound we are comfortable with (familiarity) and as much as some would deny, aesthetics makes a difference. Plus I find joy just in the music wether it be high end or Bose!

Agree best is irrelevant, enjoyable is the real key. And @skinzy I can say the same to a degree the type of enjoyment is different but good music is always good even if the reproduction isn’t always ideal

Hey! I picked one of those up in The Gilli’s! Albeit a tad smaller as transport to the mainland required a more diminutive load.

Gotta love the turtles!
