Has anyone done a Magico vs Estelon comparison?

Title says it all but one thing. I had 50 people in my house tonight and I all could think about was a finger through a tweeter.

My most favorite audio Memory was the ScottWalker display of the Estelon and Vitus via tape at the most recent Axpona. That said it appears that Estelon and MSB amps are a great match.

Thoughts?

heard that E and V pair at Fl show in February…..fantastic

spoke with Vitus CEO, good guy….but MSB on my to do list

one thing bothered me though…after listening for a few minutes, SW sales director came over with his iPad to take my order. ‘sorry’, not going to spend hundreds of thousands based on a few minutes

That’s funny. Don’t blame him for trying though.

i plan to next week

Actually that is sad :frowning: but sales people sometimes are “amusing”

I look forward to hearing your thoughts. What models are you comparing?

Not 100% sure on the Magico side Estelon Forza, Extreme, possibly the M6 and M7 + several others, will post updates

I have Magico’s, and my brother has Estelon’s. We have both brands at the office. They each do something different, so you really need to make the choice for what’s important to you. Personally, I love the Magico bass.

About the fear of fingers through a tweeter…I have a 6-year-old, so this is a daily fear. This is why my Magico’s never have the metal grills off. They have saved my speakers at least 10 times at this point from both fingers and flying toys through the air.

@Jonathan_Gullman I agree speakers like all other aspect at this level are a personal preference not good or bad. I have added REL subs to my Estelon’s as I was not happy with them on their own, but with the Magico bass isn’t a problem but I found the soundstage not as immersive nor as 3 dimensional, so the solution is to see what the next level up sounds like and see what the future might hold.

The main issue in my case is the esthetic factor (on the Magicos in general and price on the M7

This is similar to my experience with them. Keep in mind it was strictly here at the MSB facility and I am not an overly analytical listener, But I did indeed notice the Estelons (Forzas) seemed to have a more holographic soundstage and some impressively clear highs. However; I still prefer the Magicos (I believe M6) because I find the bass more enjoyable with a certain warmth to the music. I also have not had the opportunity to actually sit and listen to the cascade or the sentinel on the Magico speakers (only the select and premier) and I imagine I might favor the Forzas for those units now with the realism that BDT brings to the table.

I have work whit both brands and it is a matter of taste if you ask me.

I use Magico S3 2024 model and like @Jonathan_Gullman it have one of the best low end there is out there if you ask me but the top on the Estelon is a bit more open aand a bigger soudnstage.

For me both speakers are really great and it is about taste and what you like and the rest og the gear.

The Magico’s are excellent speakers. I have the Forza’s. Totally full range. No sub needed.
Love the Forza presentation. Sounds like live “in the room” with the performers. Across the frequency range.
Proper “supporting cast” behind the Forza’s including a Cascade and an analog side.

Perhaps the XB Diamond is more direct competition so you can ignore my comments!:joy:
Good luck.

I have the Magico A-5’s in a second system and absolutely agree that the soundstage is not as immersive or 3D. They are fabulous speakers and do other things extremely well. Tonal balance and bass come to mind. I think that’s why I love my Wilson Alexx V’s and the brand in general is their holographic soundstage. I think that’s a result of the ability to adjust each speaker module to the listening position and time align.

What amps do you have with the Forza, and if I upgrade I am perfectly fine with moving my REL No 31’s to the Home Theater (overkill absolutly but I am betting amazing)

What does this mean? Earpiercing highs?

No it means the curious index finger of a tipsy guest. The tweeters on all Magico’s are exposed.

very nice, can I ask how far from the back wall and side walls they are, I have a rather tricky layout, and based on your reply I am guessing the M500 are a better match than the M205
