Firmware upgrades now easier than ever

Hi all,

As a beta tester of Renderer V2 firmware updates, I was lucky enough to test drive the soon to be latest version (3.1.1) which allows one to update DAC and Digital Director firmware from inside the audibleDNA platform. That means the days of downloading firmware files from the MSB website will soon be a thing of the past for Renderer V2 users.

If the superlative performance of Qobuz Connect wasn’t already reason enough to run a Renderer V2 module in your MSB DAC or Digital Director, then this revolutionary breakthrough in firmware updates most certainly is.

Keen to hear from other beta testers and other MSB owners.

@drajreynolds ok you made me curious and I have to admin the upgrades have been smooth but the 3.1.1 tops the cake it’s simply transparent and the UI of both AudibleDNA and msbtech.local (which now does a redirect) are nicer

@msb team, another well delivered great service

Super! I am glad it worked well for you. I am particularly excited for the firmware updates coming to Renderers.

If anyone else out there would like to join the Beta testers, please just let me know. We need a few more people to help out. Thanks!

Hi, I beta-tested the last Sentinel update, but I hadn’t heard of the Renderer beta. May I please be officially on the Beta-Testing Team? Thank you!!

I will message you the information!

My Renderer V2 was updated overnight to the 3.1.x beta version. I tried the DAC upgrade from the web browser this morning, and it “failed” to update.

This afternoon, I made sure to have the Renderer chosen on the DAC control, and tried again, with success. I use Renderer, USB, TosLink and Coax inputs.

I guess the Renderer itself does not automatically trigger the correct input. When I have used Roon for the DAC update, it did this switch automatically.

Can the current beta firmware make this switch when updating is performed, or at least, in addition to the advanced filtering option being turned off, you might put a notice to have the Renderer chosen on the DAC prior to trying to upgrade the DAC.

That mirrors my experience which means there is room for improvement. That’s why we beta test these things and provide feedback.
