What’s the opinion of MSB and MSB-users about audiophile networkswitches? Since I ordered a separate streamer/server with USB-connection, replacing a separate nas-server, there is no need for the switch anymore, since I have one network connection left.
That said, stories reach me that remaining an audiophile switch in the audio chain has advantages for the quality of the digital signal. I prefer minimizing my system, that means selling the switch, but what is in general the wisest decision?
I got this one when it first came out couple? years ago. Subtle improvement but Alvin, the seller, is worth doing business with and keep him in the business. He has pricier units and others have even pricier units (eg, Tempus). But the one I got was more than pricey enough.
They get warmer than you may be used to, lots of goodies doing their job inside, especially the clock and cleaner output port for audiophiles as well as regular outputs for computer etc. I only use this for the streamer.

I have a Innuos PhoenixNET, but no audio system at the moment. I’m waiting for the Palisade and S202 later this year. A fresh start, though the unrest (in me) walking the path of trail and error with switches and so on is something I try to avoid. It’s probably not the smartest way to make decisions, but since I see less content about network switches at all on the forum it’s perhaps a topic what is overexposed in my country. In others words, are network switches in general that important if you not need them in a single network connection.

I was considering a network switch before; but after learning about Digital Director, I think the marginal benefit of an audiophile network switch does not justify anymore.
Even if really can’t let go of audiophile network switch, I would get a nice network cable first.
I have been using two ‘Nenon’ modified Buffalo GS2016 switches with a fiber optic cable between them for a few years. They are powered by a Keces P3 LPs. They provided a clear improvement in years past.
I have found that with the Premier Digital Director, there is no audible difference between using the switches or connecting the router directly to the DD. I keep the switches inline because I have them.
If you don’t have a switch, I suggest getting a demo somehow before buying one. You are likely to be able to avoid the cost with an MSB Demo Digital Director.
Of course, I haven’t heard all the switches out there so maybe there are some that help even with the DD. If you find one that does, please report back.
Hi Raphael, thank you. I have identical thoughts, but I’m no expert about the DD of course. I hope MSB has a clear point of view about switches in general.
I will echo that with the Premier DAC, Renderer, and Digital Director, there is no difference between router straight to Renderer, and using an UpTone EtherRegen audiophile switch between router and Renderer. (“Router” in my case being the main Ethernet switch in my network closet.)
The switch made a big SQ difference before Digital Director, particularly if I used a fiber segment to reach the etherRegen.
Without a Digital Director, if your Ethernet feeds a standalone streamer box, you might have to experiment. The PRO ISL USB can clean up a lot though, and, of course, strips out any electromagnetic interference that might be present.
Hi Crwilly, thanks. As said, I have a Innuos PhoenixNET. Before I make the final decision of keeping or selling it, my audio dealer proposed trying the diverce with or without switch on their actuel MSB-system. I will keep you informed.
Hi Bones13, thank you. The Palisade has a DD, so that should be OK. I asked Daniel for the favorite connection between streamer and MSB, the DD in fact gives simular isolation via USB-input than the combination ProUSB hub/ProISL input.
I have found these Reiki Audio switchs to perform their function extremely well.
This is not something we have done much with. @Raphael 's thoughts reflect ours especially with the introduction of the DD.
But this is an industry where anything and everything that makes a difference is valid and worth pursuing for those who want to push the limits. Saying that, have at it! We are not opposed to playing with fun equipment. Let us and others know what you find! We all may be leaving something on the table
