Taiko Pro ISL Output

We received a Taiko development unit for certification and testing earlier this week. After two days of work, the Pro ISL integration is flawless and performing for all formats. Excited to see the first server partnership come together, hope to see more soon!

Is it just for their Olympus server, or will it be available for the Extreme as well?

Congrats, thanks for sharing. As already asked on WTB I’m really curious to know your first impressions comparing USB Pro vs direct Pro ISL connections, sonically speaking.

And can’t wait for other server brands upcoming soon, like Innuos (that I own) or Pink Faun (that I’m considering as well).

From what I read from the QA pdf Taiko provided, it’s for Olympus only.

Congrats on the fruition! Hopefully an integration with Antipodes can be seen in the near future

Excited to see that implementation as well! Time will tell.

Having read thru 100 of the 223 pages of the Olympus thread on WBF, the xmdi module is available for the Extreme server as well as the Olympus. The MSB module once certified and available on the MSB dac should connect to the xdmi card regardless of whether it is the Extreme or Olympus.

Thank you!

sorry but where does that come from, I read the latest QA again and it still states the XDMI can’t be fitted into EXTREME.

I just went back and looked at the Taiko site to see if I could find a reference for my earlier post. It looks like Performance Level 2 which combines the Extreme Router with the Olympus I/O unit or module (whatever the right word is) is required for the XDMI functionality. Here is an info link for the op to reference. https://taikoaudio.com/taiko-2020/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Olympus-and-Olympus-IO-Introduction-FAQ_v034.x80569.pdf.

I have both the Pro ISL/Pro USB and the Renderer V2 Ethernet input on my Reference dac and much prefer the Renderer. I have the Internet coming into a generic modem/router to my server then to an LHY Audio SW6 Ethernet switch ($800) to a Network Acoustics Muon Pro Ethernet filter ($2000) then to the dac renderer and the results don’t leave me wanting for much more. Maybe the reference digital director or a push up to the Cascade, we will see.

I love that MSB is pursuing the xdmi technology providing their customers more options.

The xmdi is fascinating but a little too new for me to seriously consider although I have spent considerable time reviewing the 2000+ posts on WBF.

Excellent, you are the first person I have heard from upgrading to the new module. Looking forward to hearing your listening results. Cheers!

Got the daughter card installed in the Olympus IO and it’s been playing for 3 days now . I had the leave town but wife’s says it’s still playing . I will be back in a couple
days and spend some time with it .

Please keep us posted

What are the differences you are picking up on? I can’t say I am disappointed to hear our USB solution is doing so well though

And if you are liking Pro/USB then the logical question is has anyone aucustically compared Pro/USB to Pro/ISL?

The difference to me is an Aurender N20 vs N50

New member looking at this thread that I’m interested in. Just like Daniel Francis, I am very curious sonically what you think after some time with this. I also need a little teaching here. I am assuming that “Pro ISL” input from the Taiko Olympus to the MSB Cascade here is “XDMI” input from the Olympus server. Is this a correct assumption? Also, the new Taiko MSB daughter board I see here. Is this a new board for the back of the Olympus server or the MSB DAC? Sorry if that should be obvious. I assume it is for the MSB DAC but it looks like it for the Olympus server. I’m confused, but maybe it is just my unfamilarity with this whole thing. What is the format of that input or output jack I see there on this daughter board. I currently have an MSB Premier using ethernet renderer input from the Uptone Regen 1 designated output on this switch. Looking at the best upgrades in the near future. Thanks. ACR

Sorry I missed something in the the thread that I see now. The new daughter board was for the Olympus I/O unit. So, what is the format of this connectiion and what does it plug into in the Cascade Dac? It looks like RJ45 which I guess would be into the “ehternet renderer” input. If it is, how can that be true “XDMI “output from the Olympus streamer to the MSB DAC? If it is something else, that I thought it would have to be, like something unique like they are using for XDMI input from Olympus server to the Lampiaztor DACs for instance, what is it and what does it plug into in the Cascade DAC? Again, sorry if I am ignorant and confused, but I want to make sense of all this. I thought that anything using true XDMI data density and speed would have to be a unique connector of some sort. Looking forward to being “enlightened”. ACR

That connection is our in proprietary fiber connection called Pro ISL. The daughter board in the photo is developed to perform as a direct output from the media streamer/server to your MSB DAC. You can learn more about our Pro ISL format and its benefits here on our site.
We also have a video that somewhat talks about this connection, but is mainly meant to be information regarding an alternative cabling solution for the Pro ISL connection, but might be worth a watch if you area wanting to see more of a physical representation of the connection.
