Sentinel Stacking

First this is still wishful thinking

Second should I be fortunate enough to be able to afford the Sentinel DAC, I have some space limitations that I need to address, so this question is hypothetical but rather important as it drives the decision process. I dont have the space to stack everything perfectly with proper separation and so on

My choices are placing the Digital Director on a Niagra 7000 with a wooden shelf 5 cm above the Niagra or placing the Digital Director directly on a REL N0. 31 both of these configurations have very limited separation 5-10cm between the M500 and the Sentinel Power but I will have forced air the other option has a lot of space between the units but I have to stack the Sentinal Power on the Niagra 7000 and the director on the DAC

So the question is which is preferred are they both ok, is one better are they both awful do I need to revisit the approach, etc…

@Daniel_Francis moving to it’s own thread, the other question if stacking, keep the Viton feet which are low profile or IsoAccoustic which are taller?

Since we designed it not to be stacked… I am not sure which foot style will even work well.

The viton feet have a flat pad area, but the top of the units are sloped. So you will want something very compliant or with a narrower point. The Iso acoustic feet will probably work best. The extra height is also a boon, as it will help with ventilation between the units.

actually if I go with the below there is no stacking but there is only 3cm between the units and only 2 in the middle

The spacers are just for placement, I am contemplating the inflow directly under the units the front 5cm of the tray would be wood and then the rest perforated metal with a diffuser mounted directly under the center of each unit. I would likely use 3 separate inflo motors so each has a thermal speed controller with a min setpoint of 30 Celsius and max setpoint of 45

Ok, I will ask everyone to chime in, but soliciting advice from @Dan, what is the best vent fan system exhaust and intake you have come across, the requirements are fairly simple remote temp sensor (30+ feet distance), flexible hose, move as much air as possible but not to exceed 40db under moderate load, should have a normal operating noise level close to 20db, reliable.

Should I plan for 2 larger and if so whhere should I measure the temp or 3 smaller units again where should I measure the temp, my thinking is 2 and measure between the Amp and Sentinel but I need to find out the largest diameter hose I can run first.

If I use IsoAccoustic Neo’s under all equipment I think I can use perforated steel shelves for the back 85% and wood for the front 15% this would allow me to use forced air from below , the next question then becomes dispersal pattern, shoould I use a single rectangular ent centered or a series so the entire compunent sits over the vent system, the first will have a higher velocity but a smaller coverage area.

Should I attach the probes to the top (harder) or side (easier)?

Extraction as close to the ceiling (let the air rise naturally) or as close to the components as possible and if so 2 larger units for the cabinet or 3 smaller so they have more granular speed controls?

I am not sure this is what you are looking for but AC Infinity are well thought of for making quiet and effective fans for audio equipment. They will keep the air moving around your sentinel and you likely never know they are there.

BTW, I love the setup you dealer came up with. I think it looks fabulous! But I think cooling it will have to be carefully worked out to make it work.

It’s not possible to figure out cooling without knowing what is behind that wall. I don’t think it will be that hard to do, but it will take expertise.

I don’t think the noise level you are asking for is achievable. Just your HVAC system is good for more than 30 dB. And force cooling the HiFi equipment will probably generate 30 dB noise on its own, regardless of the kind of fan you use.

Fortunately 30 dB + 30 dB is not 60 dB, it’s 36 dB. There is probably a decibel app available for your mobile phone. Use one to get a feeling for the intrinsic level of noise in your room.

There are a lot of specialists in home audio system installation that deal with problems like this. One of these specialists would be the best way to find out if/how to meet the noise level/cooling you need.

@crwilli Still daydreaming, engineers are coming over on friday to see if we can implement the idea and what the $$$ might be, once I know I can fit the equipment and afford the cost then I will happily accept the congratulations

The first and actually harder is that cavity has gas/electrical/HVAC/Water etc running trough , it’s the main raiser from the basement to the second floor so the question is can we reroue everything in the empty space behind the DAC

All the appliances do indeed generate noise but they are in closed spaces further away, dB meter has ambient noise at 23.4dB with HVAC running
