You should really update the DAC firmware. It might function without the update, but you will have some instability issues. Please update your firmware. The new firmware is all back-end micro updates. It won’t change the sound, but will make it more stable and have all the features work correctly.

I do realize sometimes firmware does changes the sound signature ( of course they are not mentioned in the release notes ) =]

The DAC firmware that is updated is the user interface, display, buttons, remote, switching controls, etc… It’s all firmware that doesn’t touch the audio stream. That is all done with DSP firmware and that hasn’t changed in this update.

The Digital Director update worked. My DAC update failed on both sections.

I do have but perfect streaming.

Any idea why the DD update would work and the Premier DAC update fail?

Update—. Just reran the bit perfect files and all was good up through 24/352.

DAC firmware still failed using all ROON. Not sure why the DD would work and the DAC fail??

Followed instructions and amazingly it now worked! Thank you Jonathan!

To update the DAC, you need to go into the menu and turn the digital director from “filter” to “passthrough”. You know it’s in “passthrough” mode if the small + leaves the DAC display.

Sounds great! I think the Renderer as ROON endpoint sound much better too.

Is this because the whole platform is rebuild? Do both use the same player/renderer software in the end?

Setup my Cascade for the R3 Renderer. I am absolutely AMAZED at the improvement in the Qobuz sound, by going to Connect!! My Oladra and Roon just lost their streaming jobs…

I was skeptic, but it even worked flawless on my older the Analog DAC.

First I had to learn which is the symbol „Output Sound Device" in the Qobuz app :joy: but then it worked immediately. :+1: Excellent Sound!

But as I have an Antipodes music server running Roon streamed music from Qobuz normally will take the way through Roon.

Does anyone find that Qobuz Connect sounds different than Qobuz via Roon? I know my Roon server to Cascade is bit-perfect since the Cascade firmware update works from the Roon server. Perhaps I am imagining things.

I doubt you are, we have had several direct message reports that Qobuz Connect Direct is sounding better than other sources. Give it some critical listening and let us know. We have done a lot of work to make sure it is the best possible performance :+1:

This is on the top of my list, but not for the Renderer V2… it will require hardware authentication that is not a part of the V2 platform. When it does come, it will require a new v3 platform which is not happening just yet. We have our sights set on a few other streaming services first, and then we will swing back around on Airplay.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
