Msb cascade problem after all updates

hi

i’m still have a problem with the cascade.

when i watch tv and using toslink for audio suddenly i don’t hear anything and i’m looking on the display it goes from toslink to xlr.

this time it doesn’t stuck and i have to change the input from the remote.

i don’t think that it’s acceptable from such a dac.

thank you

I’m certainly not the expert here. Is there a source feeding the XLR input? If so, I would unplug the XLR cable, and try TV/optical again. If the problem is solved with that cable unplugged, swap positions of those 2 modules. And you might try swapping positions anyway. At least in my Premier DAC, there is an order of preference to the modules. Any trace of signal in a module with higher preference will disrupt the ongoing use of a module of lower preference. It is left to right, or right to left. Renderer does not apply to this rule for Roon Ready certification.

If your XLR source pings that module, while you are actively using the optical, and it is a higher preference, it would do what you are describing.

i have the aurender n20 connected to the aes input and although it is always on it was not active

@Bones13 is correct. I was just about to suggest the same thing.

If there is any type of a signal on a higher priority signal, it will switch. It’s not uncommon for units even when in a soft power-off state to randomly feed out a short signal.

You can test by unplugging the cable and see if it still randomly changes inputs. You can also manually select the Toslink input next time you watch your TV and see if it changes away from it. You know when the input is manually selected when you see an arrow before the name. i.e. “>Toslink” instead of “Toslink.”

Finally, you can also change the priority of the inputs by physically moving the input modules. Input port A is the lowest priority and input D is the highest priority. By default, we always put the Toslink module as the lowest priority as Toslink tends to be the most likely interface to have random signals on it.

If you want to move the inputs, please do the following carefully:

  1. Watch the below youtube video on changing modules.
  2. Unplug the AC power cable from the director. Don’t just press the power button.
  3. Remove the input modules. The entire time, keep one hand on the chassis for grounding.
  4. Install the input modules in the new order.
  5. Plug the AC cable back in.

Note: Never touch the pins or the bottom PCB of an input module. If you are not comfortable with this, please ask your dealer.

You can see a video here (please watch it before removing any modules):

Finally, if the unit is just “randomly” changing inputs to inputs that aren’t plugged in, it could be IR interference. It’s acting like the input button on the remote is being pressed or another IR remote or source in the room shares the command.

the toslink always have an arrow next to it.

i’m trying to shut down the aurender when not needed and see what will happen.

ok it’s happened again even when the aurender is off

but now it’s doing restart and return to toslink.

crazy

If you put the dac into manual input selection this can’t happen.

It’s not the dac, it’s most likely an external input sending a signal to an input that has higher priority

this is not the problem now.

the problem is random restarts for no reason.

Then i would say, contact your dealer and have it checked in his shop.

this could be heat issue?

although all the parts of the dac is separated

yesterday on the bypass it didn’t happen.

i will continue to check it further

today it happened again when i’m on bypass.

restart and return to the xlr
