My home system is a work in progress. Will post updates as it comes along. Currently working on running two new 220V circuits directly from the breaker box. Cabling will come next, currently using some home DIY. Acoustic treatment is also a looming project. The system is in the corner of a massive room with tile floors… yikes.
I just installed the Salamander Designs Oslo cabinet and I am absolutely in love with the fit, finish, and features. Very nice cabinet design.
System components:
Source: The Aurender N150 - The Pro USB Adapter output
DAC: The Premier DAC
Amplification: The S202 Amplifier
Speakers: Estelon X Diamond MKII - With a beautiful custom matte black finish.
Daniel, are your equipment on a rack at the side wall or hidden inside that front cabinet?
How did you managed to hide all the cables so well? Or did you removed all the cables before taking the photo?
Everything is hidden! I added a cable tunnel to the TV so the power cord and HDMI are now invisible too… Perhaps that speaks to my OCD, but I like clean minimal systems.
Ha! Too funny. I will say, her Orchid looks happier then mine with those blooms. I haven’t taken the time to get mine blooming again, our weather so dry and hot.
You have Estelon X Diamond MKII speakers in your home system. I have a friend who is looking at getting Estelon speakers.
Why did you choose those over the Forza? Did the Forza’s look to big in your setting, acoustic reasons because of room size, pricing, availability, or ??.
He is considering the Forza but is wonders if they will just look too imposing in his listening room and might over-power it acoustially because the room isn’t large.
Hmmmm, I would have a strong preference for the Forza. I chose these because as a company they are available when needed and the thought was for something more portable. We already have the Forza on hand, and didn’t need a second set. It is helpful to have as many models of speaker available to tap when needed. That being said, the Forza is in our listening room because its a really fine loudspeaker. Detail and clarity are out of this world, especially with an MSB system that has that information available. If the bass is too much, he may need to mitigate with some treatment.
nevermind, I have now read the “in wall” improvement whitepaper, and see what you are doing. Thanks
Dan, what do the dedicated 220v circuits bring to the system. I assume you live in CA, USA, and had the 220v circuits installed for your audio system. I had a 220v circuit in my shop for a planer/joiner in my original child rearing house.
I know some gear can be changed to use 220v vs 110v, but does it make a difference? I don’t have power hungry amplifiers at this point.
Hmmm, if you don’t have power hungry amplification, the 220V is less important. Having half the amperage in every connection is nothing but a good thing for wall power. In our listening room, we essentially only run our M500’s on the 220V circuits.
