I connected the UMT Plus (Universal Media Transport) to the Cascade Directory from the coaxial output of the UMT to the coaxial module of the Directory which detects CD and SACD (64 DSD) on the screen.
It is were connected through the HDMI output to the Universal I2S input would there be better resolution?
Does the HDMI output of the UMT Plus out both video and audio?
If I connect the coaxial or HDMI output to the Marantaz AV8805A via coaxial or HDMI inputs will they convey audio (multichannel) to the Marantz to be processed?
You cannot use the Universal I2S with the UMT Plus as it doesn’t have a I2S output via HDMI. It has standard HDMI outputs which are audio/video designed to go to TVs and receivers.
The HDMI output will transfer the multi-channel audio if it’s enabled in the menu. I’m pretty sure the coaxial will as well, but then you won’t be able to use it going directly to your 2-channel DAC as it can’t decode dts/dolby.
Thank you Jonathan. I’ll then use it for CD and SACDs with the Casacde via coaxial as I have it now. I have all the CDs and SACDs transfered to the PC I use for music and I have the impresion that music sounds better from the UMT than from the hard discs.
