What is the color combo. Sandstone Gold…

The chassis is Champagne or Sandstone, not sure what the official name is, but when I talked with @Daniel_Francis he called it Champagne. The accents are Rose Gold. The Rose Gold is gold color with a tinge of red that gives it copper tone.

Of course what you end up seeing depends on the lighting and wall color in the room. My house has what I should call southwest colors and the living/listening room is what I would call pastel yellow/bronze.

I think the Sentinel Champagne is stunning but YMMV.

This is correct, we are re-naming it along with all of our colorations to new names.

Dan’s unit is Sandstone Gold with Mojave Rose details.

You can find the updated color names here on the website. Color combinations will be added to these galleries as they come through and the Mojave Rose details haven’t been added to this page yet.

It looks stunning for sure in the pictures. Definitely a stand out piece as it contrasts nicely with the other black equipment. :+1: A+ on the custom stand as well.

Thank you,

Dan

@Kevin_Turnquist any chance you can add the Sandstone Gold with Mojave Rose images, my wife wants to see them

@Peter.Bomberg Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time with this unit to get some real glam shots for the website. I only had the completed unit in the studio for 1 day and that time was consumed by the video showcase. I do have some photos of when we were doing the color proofing with Dan. These images are unedited and the smudge on the knob is just an unfortunate finger smudge, but they do represent the color accuratley.

@Kevin_Turnquist thank you, @Dan any chance you can take a couple?

Here are a couple more images of my Sentinel. But, colors are well neigh impossible to display with any accuracy on the web (or anywhere for that matter) … even is you have official Pantone swatches, the colors will often appear different in every room of your house.. and sometime a small swatch appear a different color that a very large swatch, even in the same lighting.

I knew the Sandstone would look good in my house because it is in the family of colors in my living room. Also, I just wanted the Sentinel to look different my other equipment. That’s why I picked Sandstone.

Here the images…

Notice how the top of the DD looks to be a different color than the top of the power supply and DAC, even though they are in just about the same like but at a different angle.

Here is another image. The DD looks, to me, like it is a bit darker than in the image above, even though both pictures were in the same lighting, just taken from different directions.

The color, to me, looks quite a bit different from Kevin’s images, but he had different, and probably better controlled, lighting than I did.

I hope this helps.

That Sandstone Gold finish is stunning. It almost makes me regret going with Matte Stainless for my Sentinel. I am curious to hear how your Sentinel compares to your previous Cascade, and what the Pink Faun adds to the overall sound quality. Would you mind sharing your experience so far?

There is no question that the Sandstone color is amazing… it’s almost alive with different lightings producing variations.

When I got the Cascade it was replacing a McIntosh MCD 12000. The step up was jaw dropping. Then I replaced a Roon Nucleus Titan, which added clarity and better transients (drums, etc)). I didn’t think my jaw could drop any further until I got the Cascade. In between I replaced my McIntosh MC901’s and speakers… to MSB M500 and Magico M6. Every change was an increment.

I didn’t do any detailed testing, but I did do some informal comparisons and could find specific details that were improved at every step along the way. Mostly, to me, the biggest changes have to do with position of the instruments and vocalists and the overall sound field. Sometime I can’t say the position is more accurate or a rim shot more real but they sound better and the overall sound field just envelopes you better.

Of course these are just my options on my system… of course use your own ears. I think I don’t focus too much on individual details, but listen more to the overall sound experience.
