I currently use a Discrete with dual PSUs and I’m thinking about upgrading to a Premier. Is there a discernible difference in SQ between the two? The rest of the system is Gryphon Essence and Aurender N20. Thanks!
Twice the DAC modules, better clock, and the power base. All solid improvements.
When I was getting my Premier, I priced the Discrete with the power base, and decided at that point it made sense to go on up to Premier.
I have not had a chance to actually listen to the Discrete though, so I cannot answer your question.
I’ve considered all the improvements in the Premier DAC, and that’s why I’m considering the upgrade. I’m sure the SQ will be different, just wondered how much. Thank you for your advice.
I’ve listened to almost all of MSB’s products from the Generation Ⅳ, except for the latest Sentinel DAC. I think the Premier is a qualitative leap compared to the Discrete. Of course, this is just my opinion. After all, audio equipment is a system manufacturing process, and the DAC is just one component.

Now that I found out the Premier will not be continued beyond 2026, the question seems to be if the Palisade is a bridge to far for my budget.
I think so. The scenery is even more beautiful when you climb to the top of the mountain（Palisade DAC） step by step.

It’s also a pretty decent time to find a used Premier DAC / Digital Director to enjoy, while you save for a Palisade.
Check with your MSB dealer!
Also, the “discontinued” MSB products have the best continuing support in the industry. I have no fear that they can keep my DAC running as long as I want to hold on to it.
Not saying I won’t be saving for an upgrade one day, but the Premier is about the best part of my system. It will be one of the last things I upgrade.

The Premier/DD is a good idea. I’ll look into it, because the Palisade will require some saving!

How do you know that Premier is not continuing beyond 2026?
During my information search online, I read an article that stated production cost was increasing too much, so it was being phased out. I’ve purchased gear in the past where that has happened.
Ok, but I will wait for what Daniel or Jonathan is saying in this matter.
With the introduction of the Palisade, the used Premier DAC / DD market will be VERY good. Also, we will start having refurbished units available for great pricing. Just let us know if you would like to be on our shortlist to receive the first option to buy a refurbished unit. Compared to new, this will be the best value way to move up the chain

Daniel, thank you for the update. I absolutely want to be on the list for a refurbished Premier and DD. The Palisade is still aspirational for me.

When it comes in, we can organize what that will look like to move over. Most of the refurbs are waiting for the Palisades to start shipping in September, so we have some time to wait still.
I have been living day to day with the Premier for many years now, it’s a good one!
