Hello, I was wondering if I can add an analog xlr output on my reference dac to go to a headphone tube amp. My existing output goes to my main preamp. I currently use the preamp to run to the headphone amp, but I’m considering bi-amping my speakers and will lose that output connection.

We have options to make this work, but have stopped promoting them. This setup in theory works, but the parasitic effects of having a headphone amp also connected to the DAC outputs is generally not acceptable in our eyes with the performance of the DAC. We always recommend either swapping cables… or getting a switch box that allows a hard disconnect. We designed in a passthrough option on our headphone amps that acts as a hard switch for when the headphone amp is in use, but I am not sure if yours has this option. Hope that helped!
