Very interesting to see the DAC running through the Gryphon preamp as opposed to direct to the amp.
I’ve just taken delivery of my Premier DAC and I’m also running it through my Gryphon Pre. I’ve been wondering if I’m better served running direct to my Gryphon amp, but this set up makes me feel like I’m already on the right track!

That’s what I do with my Cascade DAC. It works great!

Many amp/preamps are matched and perform better together as a set. It’s not always the case, but can often be the best configuration. On the flip side, simplifying the signal chain can also yield benefits, so we always recommend trying to bypass preamps and see.
If you use the Gryphon preamp, you can disable the volume control in the DAC for best performance.
