Just received my Premier Digital Director. If you have room in your rack for all three pieces to stack is there a correct stacking order? Is it preferred to not stack all three and if so what would be the better protocol. Thanks
Recommendations from the staff here is best not to stack. Particular emphasis on separating the DAC section from any source of electrical, and magnetic, influence. Probably no issue with stacking PSU and DD. I would put the PSU on top of the DD for 2 reasons, firstly, the PSU gets hot, and secondly, the power button is on the PSU, so easier to get to.
Separating the DAC unit from any other component in your system is best. The power cables, and optical connections to the DD should allow you to either put to the side, or on another shelf. Several inches, or a foot, from the other gear should be fine.
If you are stacking, I would slot the DD between the Powerbase and DAC. The Transformers in the powerbase are the most risky interference for the DAC architecture. Optimal of course to have them all separated, but not required!
Daniel I ended up with the power base on top of the DD with the dac on an adjacent shelf. Good choice?
Fantastic!
