Maybe an often asked question but is it better to leave my premier dac and S202 amp always on or still turn power off at the end of the day? A warmed up set sounds better so always on? And doesn’t this also extend the life span? Thanks in advance for an answer!
Now that I am retired, I would like to know thoughts on this as well. I have read others thoughts on leaving DACs on all the time to help with temperature consistency. I can’t pretend to know whether leaving a powerful amp on all the time is better for sound, and weather or not cycling the power supply frequently is worse than leaving it on.
I did read that there is new firmware coming that will dim the LEDs when idle (not sure what triggers the LED dim) It might make the DAC better able to stay on at all times. I had a previous DAC that I left on all the time. It required a new LED panel when I sold it. I have been turning it off, but would consider leaving it on if I spend more time in my room during retirement.
@Remco_Amsterdam On the Cascade DAC (not sure on the others) there is a feature to timeout the display, it works great and automatically lights up when the information changes then turns black
I am asked this question often. Our product is designed to either be left on 24/7 or to be turned on/off each day.
Personally, I turn my system on/off each day, and I have done so for years. My brother, Daniel, leaves his system on 24/7 and has done so for years.
We design our products to have the longest life possible with long-life capacitors and high-temperature-rated parts.
It is true that a warmed-up set sounds better! If you are listening daily and don’t mind the power consumption, leave it on! If you are a weekend-only listener or want to save on power consumption, just turn it on a few hours before your listening session for improved results. It still sounds great when cold.

It is the same in the premier dac. Thanks voor your reply!
Thanks for your quick and clear response Jonathan. I go back enjoying the great amp and dac!

Early next week, the Premier DAC will have a new firmware release to add a new feature. Like the Cascade, the display will have a new mode called “Auto Dim.” Instead of fully turning the display off when there is no activity, it will simply dim the display. I personally love this feature as I often want to see what’s going on, but I don’t need the display on full brightness all the time.
The primary reason for the update is to support the Universal I2S input.
That sounds like a good idee, I will definitely use that. Thanks for the response. I think Martijn and Eric from AudioXperience visited you recently. That’s my dealer in the Netherlands. They were looking forward to the visit.
They are visiting next week! Happy to spend time with those two, great guys.
