Percentage spending on our system components

I just saw a question in another Group that I found interesting. What is the percentage spending in our systems, i.e. speakers vs amps vs source vs cables and other ancillary elements.

Looking at my system my soon to arrive Reference DAC will be (based on RRP price) my most expensive component by far and thus will tip the percentage number heavily towards the source.

If I still include the Premier DAC as it is what I currently have on the rack, then it would be a very close percentage match between my three main components.

To note that my system now is completely dedicated to digital streaming. We all know that a pre-amp (and a very good at that) is built-in in all MSB DACs.

So, with the Premier DAC:

Source (DAC+streamer) 28%

Speakers 26%

Amp 25%

Cables + other accessories including rack 21%

With the Reference DAC it will become:

Source (DAC+streamer) 41.5%

Speakers 20.5%

Amp 20%

Cables + other accessories including rack 18%

Funny thing! Here my system:

40% = Digital sources
27% = Cables power grounding tweaks
15% = Amp
12% = Speakers
6% = Analog sources

hmmmm, mine is way out of whack, but I love the look of those Estelon speakers…

Source (DAC+streamer) 28%

Amp 25%

Speakers 45%

Cables + other accessories including rack 2%

It frankly makes more sense than mine but hey… as MSB owner you should be happy about that!

For me:
Speakers 40%
Preamp+amp 30%
Source 25%
Room 5%
Cables - almost zero (I am one of those freaks that do not believe in cables)
