hi, i have aurender n20 and msb cascade.
i use the word clock connection between them.
now i intend to upgrade to the antipodes oladra that has word clock output like the cascade.
what can i do with the clock cable?
thank you

You won’t need the clock cable between the Oladra and your MSB DAC. The idea is to slave the source to the vastly superior DAC clock. That was an option with the Aurender but not the Oladra.
If you’ll be connecting via USB my understanding is USB always uses the destination clock. Someone smarter than me can hopefully confirm.
Correct. USB and Ethernet (Renderer) sources are controlled by the clock in the MSB DAC. One of their many advantages over other digital connection methods.
Can anyone tell me why it is not recommended to use the Cascade clock output back to an Aurender N50 with the connection between them being the proUSB?
USB and Ethernet are packet based data transfer interfaces. The music data is sent in large chunks and is received into a buffer in the DAC where it sits until the DAC gets to that part of the music. The DAC tells the upstream device when it has room for more data, or it tells the upstream device (streamer) how much to adjust the data rate. Interfaces that work this way are called asynchronous. There is no point in synchronizing clocks over an asynchronous interface.
