I just installed the update on Cascade. Best firmware update I’ve ever done… It talks to you!

@Dan , what does the new firmware update for the Cascade.
Is it necessary to do this firmware update?
Thank you.

Hi Des

I _think_ it switches more quickly when I switch a track in the Roon client, but I hadn’t done any measurements before I did the update.

But I think the change was done to update the Cascade for the new ISL module and Auto-Dim. But Auto-Dim was already working.

It is mainly support for new HDMI I2S inputs for now. There is also new Display dimming options. We plan to try and launch a version next week more broadly. If you wait, I will be sending out an email blast and posting here when it is ready.

I didn’t want to create a new thread so hopefully adding here applies to the main topic “Firmware update experience”

First the update process through the renderer is much easier. It really simplified the process and makes sure you are updating to your model DAC.

Second should we hear differences when the firmware is updated? I know most are housekeeping and bug fixes. I am referring to the latest update applied to the Premier.

This is the case. Some of the bug fixes may improve occasional hiccups in the performance, but currently, no major acoustic changes to the DAC’s.

Reference + Digital + Renderer: the DAC updated itself, convenient !!

Yesterday I saw on your site the file to update the Digital “with the old system”, but those who don’t have the Renderer how will they do with DAC updates? No longer updates?

They will have to update the original way, by playing a bit perfect file through the system.

Correct. I hope to see more and more owners adding a Renderer to their systems. Good stuff.

Too bad that from the MSB site the updated file is not yet downloadable !!

And this applies to both the Reference and the Select…

Version 22.11 is the latest available firmware for the digital director. Version 40.21 for the Select and Reference will probably find its way to the site later this week or early next. The latest versions of firmware are always released first via the Renderer update network before being approved and scheduled to be posted on the site as general availability.
